Independent Sales Contractor

Aerial Infrastructure, LLC · Open territory · 1099, commission only

Something unusual is happening in telecom right now. A very large number of businesses need to buy something, they already know they need it, and there are not enough people around to help them do it.

The copper telephone network is being retired. AT&T stopped taking new copper orders in October 2025 and began decommissioning wire centers in June 2026. When a wire center is filed on, the businesses it serves get 180 days of notice. That notice used to arrive at the end of a long federal review process, which gave everyone plenty of warning. Since the FCC streamlined that process in March 2026, the 180 days is much closer to the entire runway. Which is why this work is landing now.

Every elevator emergency phone, fire alarm panel, alarm circuit and medical fax line still running on copper has to move to something else. Not because anyone sold the owner on an upgrade, but because the line is going away.

That changes the nature of the conversation. The business already has the problem and already knows about it. What they are missing is someone who can walk in and solve it. You get to start where most sales roles spend months trying to arrive.

What you sell

Three product lines, and the catalog behind them is deep. A single relationship can turn into several sales.

  • POTS line replacement for POTS replacement. This is the copper work above, and it installs in 7 to 21 days.
  • Aerial Connect, our own hosted phone system, sold per line and provisioned in 24 hours.
  • T-Mobile for Business plus the Sandler portfolio: 233 providers covering internet and fiber, SIP, managed security, SD-WAN and managed IT. One agreement, a whole catalog to sell from.

How you are paid

Every sale pays you twice. There is a one-time commission when the account goes live, and a monthly residual that keeps paying for as long as that account stays active. The residual is the reason to build here. Your second year can look very different from your first without you selling any harder.

We pay on activation, not on collection. Your commission is earned the month an account goes live and paid within fifteen days of that month ending. On channel business, that means we pay you before the master agency pays us. Most agencies make their reps wait months. We carry that gap instead of passing it along.

This is a commission-only 1099 role, so there is no salary or draw. The upside is that nothing caps what you build, and the book you build stays yours while those accounts stay active.

Why now

The product set is unusually broad for a company our size. Between our own platform, T-Mobile for Business and the Sandler agreement, you are carrying a catalog most independent reps would need several separate contracts to assemble. So when a copper conversation gets you in the door, you have plenty to sell through it beyond the thing that got you there.

Aerial is early, and the sales organization is being built right now. Contractors coming in at this stage choose their territory before anyone else, work directly with the founder rather than through a layer of sales management, and have real influence over how the role takes shape. There is no queue ahead of you for the best accounts, and the copper window that is driving all of this is open now rather than someday.

Who does well here

We will teach you the products, so telecom experience is a plus rather than a requirement. There is no minimum number of years we are screening for. What actually matters:

  • Comfort selling face to face. This is field work. You will walk into a building, ask for whoever handles the phones or the fire panel, and start a conversation from a standing start.
  • Self-direction. There is no sales manager and no one building your pipeline for you. You set your own week and work it.
  • Listening more than pitching. Most of the sale is working out what a building still runs on copper and what stops working when it goes away. Often the customer does not know either, and finding out is the value you add.
  • Follow-through. A POTS replacement install runs 7 to 21 days and can touch a landlord, an alarm company or an elevator contractor. These deals close because somebody stayed on top of the details.
  • Enough organization to know where every account stands. Residuals compound, so the book you keep track of is the one that pays you in year two.

Adjacent experience travels further here than telecom experience does. If you have sold or serviced fire and life safety, elevators, security and access control, property management, copiers or IT services to small businesses, you already know the buyer and you already know the building. That is most of the learning curve.

You will want your own vehicle, phone and computer. As with any commission role, the first quarter is mostly pipeline building, so it suits someone who can work toward a ramp rather than needing week-one revenue.

Territory is open and we do not carve up counties. We track carrier copper retirement filings and tell you which communities have just received notice and when their clock started, so you are working from real timing rather than knocking cold. Aerial is based in Alpharetta and support is strongest across North Fulton, Forsyth, Cherokee and Cobb, but contractors anywhere in the country are welcome.

Let us talk

Use the form below. Attach a resume if you have one handy, and tell us in a couple of sentences what caught your eye about this.

The first conversation is a working one. We go through the commission schedules line by line, look at the target segments together, and you build your own view of whether the economics make sense for you. Nobody signs anything on a first meeting, and there is no pressure to.
